I felt pretty bad for the always loveable Phil Mickelson today. I had been in my ladies golf apparel rooting for Tiger–I am a Tiger fan, and always want to see him make history–but I was drawn towards Phil the more I learned of his story and the more that Tiger fell out of the competition and the more that Phil seemed like a contender. Phil Mickelson’s wife–who I am sure has great taste in ladies golf apparel–has cancer, and Phil took time off from the tour recently to be with and support his wife. This story is much more important than the usual ladies golf apparel commericals we discuss, and reminds us that there can be tragedy even in the world of ladies golf apparel. When Phil made his run towards the end of the tournament, I really thought that he had a chance to win this tournament and bring home that trophy to his wife. I feel really happy for Lucas Glover, who really came out of nowhere to win the U.S. Open, but me and my ladies golf apparel were really getting behind Phil.
